It has already been known that the city of Stockholm wants to demolish the Älvsjömässan and instead build a new district on the site with 2,000–2,500 homes.

PACE, together with the industry association TMF Trähus, has produced a plan proposal for such a district that is built entirely of wood.

The proposed district must have a traditional style and be able to house approximately 15,000 residents. In addition to housing, there will be offices, trade, culture, sports, schools and parks, writes Fastighetsvärlden.

The proposal is designed by Erika Wörman, chief architect at PACE. She advocates a humanistic approach to urban planning, which she believes is lacking in almost all new projects. She grew up around classic environments in Sigtuna and Kalmar with many tourists and hopes to recreate this.

– We are drawn to the type of environments that feel safe, orientable, charming and that have an atmosphere that you become happy with An environment that is varied without being cluttered and that is designed to be experienced on foot. The streets should be different but still belong together and it's good if you sometimes have to meet with eye contact, says Erika Wörman to Fastighetsvärlden.
