TwittraShareSerious riots hit the French capital over the weekend, as several hundred Afghan immigrants ran riot in the streets.
A number of videos circulating on social media show groups of Afghans attacking passing cars, firing smoke grenades, throwing trash cans and tables around and smashing shop windows.
“No media showed the images, but Afghan insurgents wreaked havoc in Paris streets. It's time for them to return home to Afghanistan!” writes Marion Maréchal, candidate for the national conservative party Reconquete.

The background to the riots is said to be a murder case involving Afghan immigrants, reports Remix News. On April 7, an Afghan man allegedly shot dead two of his comrades for unclear reasons and then tried to cover up the double murder by arson.
However, the killer seems to have underestimated the rapid progress of the fire and fell from the seventh floor during his escape, resulting in his own death.

The Afghans in Paris thus responded to this event by starting riots. But despite the dramatic scenes from the streets, the footage has not been shown on the major French television channels – something that has drawn criticism.
Several French politicians have expressed their anger at the incident. The leader of the National Assembly, Jordan Bardella, writes on X:
“Afghan demonstration that degenerates into riots in Paris: I have had enough of our country becoming the world's doormat, the country where you can do anything with total impunity. Our primary commitment will be to restore order to France.”
