Clonezilla is an open source program that can be used to create disk images. It is possible, among other things, to make backups of partitions or of the entire hard drive, or a copy of a hard drive: a so-called clone. Clonezilla is therefore an open source variant of Macrium Reflect and Acronis True Image. The whole thing is based on a Debian distribution and it uses DRBL, Partclone and udpcast. Clonezilla live is intended for individual computers, while with Clonezilla server and SE up to forty computers can be imaged simultaneously. A new stable release of Clonezilla has been released with version number 3.1.2-22 and the changelog of that version looks as follows:

Enhancements and changes

  • The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2024/Apr/08).
  • Linux kernel was updated to 6.7.9-2.
  • Package ezio was updated to 2.0 .11.
  • New format messages sending to ocsmgrd. A comma (,) is used to separate the messages.
  • Rotate Clonezilla-related log files & receive new format messages from clients.
  • Include powermgmt-base and pdsh live system.
  • xz-utils was reverted back to the 5.4.5 version.
  • Removed “ip=” from boot parameters. Thanks to Robert Spitzenpfeil for mentioning that. Ref.

Bug fixes

  • No message was sent to ocsmgrd in BT mode.
  • Update disable_sudo_use_pty, negate it explicitly, not just comment it. This should avoid distortion of gpm with jfbterm.
