Volkswagen is preparing to take another step forward in its electrification strategy. In fact, on June 27th he will present; the concept of its new electric sedan which will be called & agrave; ID. AERO . We have already talked about this new car; several times over the last few months thanks to a series of spy photos and statements of the German brand. Until now, however, this model, which many identified as the electric heir to the Passat, was called Aero B . Now, finally, we will soon know a lot more.
As mentioned at the beginning, Volkswagen will not present; the final version of the ID. AERO but a concept car which, however, shouldn't differ too much from the production model. In this regard, the automaker confirms once again that this new electric car will debut & agrave; initially in China . Sales should start in the second half & agrave; of 2023 in this market.
The corresponding production model for the North American and European markets will be; presented, however, in 2023. The production of the series version of the ID. AERO for the European and North American markets will be held; at the Volkswagen plant in Emden. At the same time as these important announcements, the German brand also shared a teaser of the ID concept. AERO that we will find out in a few days.
WHAT DO WE KNOW? 
This is how Volkswagen describes the concept of the new electric sedan.
At first glance, the new concept car impresses with its extraordinary aerodynamics, elegant design and generous space.
The ID. AERO pogger & agrave; always on the well-known MEB platform on which all the latest electric models of the German brand are based. The manufacturer also adds that also from a stylistic point of view, the new model follows the design language of the ID family.
The exterior design of the ID. AERO & egrave; fluid and precise: the most characteristic features; evident from the pre-production study are the aerodynamic front and roof, which help to reduce energy consumption and increase range.
And speaking of range , already in the past, Volkswagen had stated that the future electric sedan could have a mileage of 700 km. In a few days we will understand this aspect better. From a technical point of view, we will most likely find the same powertrains that are present today on models such as the ID.4 and the ID.5. Is it possible that the new ID. AERO can count on a battery of greater capacity; compared to the 77 kWh of electric SUVs.
There will be; then to understand, finally, what will be the differences between the European model and the Chinese one.
