Abroad. A new corona variant – called the “Delta Crown” – has been discovered in Cyprus, reports the Cyprus Mail.

So far, 25 cases have been identified in Cyprus. Eleven of them are cared for in hospitals.
– It could mean that there is a connection with delta crowns and hospital admissions, said Professor Leontios Kostrikis at a press conference on Saturday.
The new variant has has been named “delta crown” because it shares a genetic background with the delta variant but has ten mutations in common with the omicron variant.
According to the Cyprus Minister of Health, more information about the “delta crown” will be presented next week.
