AirPods Beannies

Native Union celebrates the 20th anniversary of the iPod with these AirPod Beanies. They are knitted covers in different colors, which are copied 1-on-1 from the well-known iPod socks. Suitable for all AirPods models, these AirPods Beanies are available in a pack of four, each in a different color.

Who remembers the iPod Socks?

The iPod socks were on sale for almost a decade: between 2004 and 2012, you could buy them to protect your iPod from scratches. It was a simple knit case that was surprisingly effective. It fit all models. There were six colors in a pack, so you could adjust the sock to your mood.

Native Union's AirPods Beanies are something similar, but with a different logo. They are suitable for the AirPods 1, 2, 3 and Pro, but also for any other type of wireless earphones. They prevent your earbuds from flying out of the case if you drop them and also prevent scratches on the case.

While the iPod socks featured a ‘Made in China’ label and a 56% acrylic composition, 4% nylon and 40% cotton Native Union has used 100% recycled materials for the Beanies. They are thin enough to put the case on the charger. In a blog post, the company explains how they came to be.

Those who prefer an official piece of Apple textiles can go to the Apple Store for the cleaning cloth of 25 euros. Compared to that, the AirPods socks of 30 euros were not exactly cheap either.

Knitting yourself is of course also possible and is a lot more personal. Just look at Zokje, which we once wrote about. Native Union is a brand at Appelhoes, Amac and other stores, but we have not yet identified the socks there. Maybe still to come.
