iOS 14.8.1 update now available for download
A day after iOS 15.1, Apple also has something in store for those who haven't made the jump to iOS 15 yet. From this year on, it is possible to stay on an older iOS version for even longer, for example because you are dreading the update, are not waiting for the new features or work for an organization where you are not yet allowed to update. For those people there is now a security update. iOS 14.8.1 contains no new features but makes your device more secure. Multiple vulnerabilities are likely to have been patched.
There has been no beta for iOS 14.8.1, so the update probably contains few notable things. Apple also updated the security page to clarify bug fixes in audio, ColorSync, Continuity Camera, CoreGraphics, GPU Drivers, IOMobileFrameBuffer, Kernel, Sidecar, Status Bar, Voice Control, and WebKit. If you have experienced security issues with any of the features mentioned, hopefully that has now been resolved.

Download iOS 14.8.1
To download iOS 14.8.1, do the following:
- On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Software update. Wait for the update to appear.
- Tap Download and Install.
- Wait for your device to reboot and the installation to complete.
< p>You can also update through iTunes or the Finder. To do this, connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac or PC with a cable and open iTunes or the Finder in macOS Catalina and newer. Click on your connected device and choose Search for update. The update is then downloaded and then installed on your device.
