iPhone 12 battery: worn out or in top condition?

Apple makes the devices more energy-efficient every year and also tries to prevent battery wear as much as possible. With new iPhones on the way, we're wondering how the battery fares on last year's iPhone 12 models. Do they still have a maximum capacity of 100% or has there already been quite a bit of wear and tear on these relatively new devices? In the poll below you can fill in what your current battery condition is. You can charge a brand new iPhone up to 100%, but gradually the capacity decreases, so that at a given moment you cannot charge further than, for example, 85% of the original capacity. That in itself is not a bad thing, because you can still continue to use your iPhone. But of course you want to postpone this moment as long as possible.

In recent years, Apple has been busy with all kinds of measures and functions that should limit wear on the battery as much as possible. This prevents the iPhone, for example, from hanging on the charger for a longer period of time with a 100% charge. Instead, the last bit is only charged right before you normally get out of bed. In addition, the charging behavior of your iPhone is adapted to your daily routines. Users themselves have also become increasingly aware. For example, I no longer try to charge my iPhone to 100%, but to about 80%. I only charge up to 100% on days that I am away from home for a longer period of time. That should mean that my current iPhone 12 Pro still has a battery in top condition… But that's not true. In my case, the battery has only 95% of its original capacity.

What about you? Let us know in the poll below, which is only intended for people who immediately started using a device from the iPhone 12 family (including mini, Pro and Pro Max).

Don't have a device from the iPhone 12 series? Then unfortunately you cannot complete the poll. We understand that it would be even more interesting to have figures for every conceivable device, but this results in too large a variety of models and usage times. After all, an iPhone 11 can have been bought last month, but also 1.5 years ago and with the iPhone XR, the variation in usage time is even greater. Of course you can always share your measurement in the comments!

And if you have an exceptionally high score of 98% to 100%, we would of course also like to hear what your approach is in the comments. Daily charging, or rather as short as possible? This way others know how to keep their iPhone battery in the best possible condition.

You can read everything about iPhone battery health in our tip. If you have an older device, it can often be worthwhile to have your iPhone battery replaced, because for a few tens you can enjoy it much longer.
