No More Data-Free Music

Data-free Music was included in the 10GB subscription. Customers who already have such a bundle can continue to use it, but the option expires for new customers. According to T-Mobile, it was a determining factor for few customers when choosing their subscription. Also, it is becoming increasingly difficult to offer unlimited data usage for such services as more and more content is added, such as video, podcasts and audiobooks. Data-free Music became available at T-Mobile in 2016. It means that streaming music is not at the expense of your data bundle. It led to complaints about net neutrality, because providers are not allowed to discriminate based on data usage (‘zerorating’). However, T-Mobile got away with it, as all streaming services are free to join Data-free Music. After some wrangling, this eventually led to zero rating being removed from the Dutch Telecommunications Act.

New data bundles at T-Mobile

It is perhaps more interesting that T-Mobile will adjust the Go bundles. The data bundles of 5GB and 10GB will disappear and make way for 8GB and 15GB. The price will remain almost the same, although there may be small differences.

These are the new 1-year bundles as of September 13, 2021:

Data bundle Call minutes/text Price per month 1GB 120 €14 ,50 8GB 120 €18,50 15GB 120 €21,50 Unlimited 5G Unlimited €36

With contracts of 24 months you can get a little cheaper. 5G is included with the unlimited subscription, with other bundles you pay two euros extra per month for 5G.

All options for an iPhone with a T-Mobile subscription can be found in our overview. If you are looking for cheaper bundles, you could also go to T-Mobile's subsidiaries Simpel and Ben for SIM only.

T-Mobile was recently in the news because the company (including Tele2) was sold to new owners. It will be transferred from Deutsche Telekom and Tele2 to two growth investors who have ambitious plans for it. Nothing will change for regular customers.
