With the UltraGear 27GP950, LG introduces a new monitor for gamers. The 27-inch IPS display delivers 3,840 × 2,160 pixels at up to 160 Hz (OC). In addition, there is a fast interface with HDMI 2.1. At the same time, 32GP850 (32 “, WQHD, up to 180 Hz) and 34GP950G (34”, UWQHD, up to 180 Hz) were announced.
27GP950 with HDMI 2.1 VRR
The three newcomers were introduced by LG as part of the digital CES presentation. The UltraGear 27GP950 is not only reminiscent of the 27GN950 by name, because like it, it has a so-called nano-IPS panel with 144 Hz and 1 ms response time (GtG). The predecessor also offers the option of up to 160 Hz via overclocking. However, HDMI 2.1 is making its debut in LG's gaming monitor portfolio, as is the case with Acer's Nitro series.
The 27GP950 is also certified according to the guidelines of the VESA standard DisplayHDR 600 and has to achieve a luminosity of 600 cd/m² at certain points. The video speaks of “56 block local dimming”, which can mean 56 separately adjustable light zones. In terms of variable refresh rate (VRR), all relevant implementations are supported with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, HDMI 2.1 VRR and Nvidia G-Sync Compatible.
34GP950G with G-Sync Ultimate
On a 34-inch screen diagonal, the 34GP950G delivers 3,440 × 1,440 pixels in the 21: 9 format. The native refresh rate of the nano IPS panel, which is curved in this case, is also 144 Hz, but LG speaks of up to 180 Hz per overclocking. Nvidia G-Sync Ultimate means with this monitor that a G-Sync module is installed. According to LG, the display is certified according to the HDR 600 standard. The response time should also reach 1 ms (GtG), and the color space coverage of 98 percent DCI-P3 is what the three newcomers have in common.
32GP850
The UltraGear 32GP850 is again in the usual 16: 9 format, which displays 2,560 × 1,440 pixels on 31.5 inches. A refresh rate of 165 Hz with an OC option of 180 Hz is specified here. FreeSync Premium without Pro indicates a lower luminosity, since only “Pro” adds HDR as a property. The monitor is also G-Sync compatible. Instead of a certification for HDR standards, only the support of HDR10 content is cited.
