Update 10:45 : A possible lossless audio logo has also surfaced in Apple Music. See the update at the bottom of this article.

Earlier this month, references to Apple Music HiFi surfaced. A source claimed that Apple will soon release a lossless version of Apple Music and references have also been discovered in the beta of iOS 14.6. Now, Apple itself is adding fuel to the fire by sharing a remarkable teaser for an Apple Music announcement in the Music app.

Teaser Apple Music announcement: lossless audio on the way?

The teaser can be found in the Discover tab of the Music app and can be viewed at this link. The teaser is a video that says “ Music is about to change forever '' (in English: & ldquo; Get ready-music is about to change forever & rdquo;). The teaser video was posted by the account “Apple Music Presents”. In the video we see the Apple Music logo against a black and white background, with the logo spinning in 3D, as it were.

There is no audio in the teaser, but the animation itself seems to reveal enough. It is possible that Apple is teasing about the introduction of 3D audio or Spatial Audio for Apple Music, just as the rumor already revealed. You could then, for example, via AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, listen to Apple Music in a higher lossless audio quality.

At the same time, references to lossless audio in Apple Music have also been discovered in the web version. The source code of the web version mentions Lossless and Hi Res Lossless and mentions were found to Dolby Atmos and Dolby Audio. Not all songs may immediately receive support for this improved audio quality. In the meantime, all the pieces of the puzzle seem to be falling into place, but the only question is when Apple will announce the lossless version of Apple Music.

In the web version of Apple Music, there is now also a possible logo of lossless audio discovered. You may see this logo on songs suitable for this high sound quality.

We may not have to wait too long for it. According to a source, Apple will announce this on May 18, along with the AirPods 3. The earlier source claimed that Apple will not charge extra for the higher sound quality, so every subscriber could benefit from it.
