MSI has announced notebooks with Intel's 10 nm CPUs from the Tiger Lake-H45 family as latecomers. In addition to classic refresh models, three completely new gaming offshoots are among the new products. Namely, these are the Pulse GL, Katana GF and Sword 15/17, each in 15 and 17 inches and partly with Nvidia's smallest RTX GPU.

In addition to refresh models, there are also completely new developments

With the GE76 Raider, GE66 Raider as well as the GP76 Leopard and the GP66 Leopard, MSI follows manufacturers such as Asus, Gigabyte, Lenovo, Dell and Alienware as well as Razer with the recent launch of the new 11th generation of mobile processors from Intel and the introduction from Nvidia's entry-level GeForce RTX 3050 (Ti) GPUs.

The real new developments include the Pulse GL76 and GL66, the Katana GF76 and GF66 as well as the Sword 17 and 15, which at MSI operate under the umbrella of gaming notebooks and appear in 17 and 15 inches respectively. Divided into performance classes, the three model series differ primarily in terms of CPU, GPU and the built-in display. There are also differences in the height and the material used for the housing.

Pulse GL76 and GL66 with Core i7 and RTX 3060

The Pulse GL76 and Pulse GL66 are in the upper middle class with Core i7 and graphics cards up to GeForce RTX 3060. There are also screens with 17.1 inches (GL76) and 15.6 inches (GL66), which offer a refresh rate of 144 Hz. A PCIe SSD of an unknown type, a WLAN module with Wi-Fi 6 and a keyboard with RGB lighting are also part of the equipment package.

The 17 “model measures 398 × 273 × 24.2 mm (W × D × H) and weighs at least 2.3 kg. Depending on the equipment, the recommended retail price varies between 1,699 and 1,899 euros. MSI has not yet stated how the individual configurations differ in terms of the configuration with RAM and mass storage for Germany.

Katana-GF- Series optionally with the smallest gaming ampere GPU

The Katana GF76 (17.3 & quot;) and the Katana GF66 (15.6 & quot;) are in a price range below the Pulse and cover a wider range of performance. Depending on the model, an Intel Core i7 or Core i5 with six or eight cores in conjunction with Nvidia's RTX GPU is available for 1,099 to 1,799 euros.

The best equipment package includes a GeForce RTX 3070, for the more cost-effective variants MSI offers the new entry-level ampere GPUs in the form of the GeForce RTX 3050 and GeForce RTX 3050 Ti. A PCIe SSD of unknown origin also functions as the system drive in the notebooks. The manufacturer does not yet specifically name the equipment with RAM. Despite the favorable alignment, all models should be equipped with a 144 Hz display.

For the Katana GF76, which comes up with a 17-inch panel, MSI gives dimensions of 398 × 273 × 25.2 mm (W × D × H) with a weight of 2 .3 kg, whereas the 359 × 259 × 24.9 mm (W × D × H) 15-inch Katana GF66 notebook is thinner and also lighter at 2.1 kg. In contrast to the pulse, the built-in keyboard in the Katana series only lights up in red. A Wi-Fi 6 module, on the other hand, is also standard in the cheaper product lines.

The chassis of the Sword 17 and 15 is white

For the two new Sword gaming notebooks 17 and Sword 15, MSI does not yet have any meaningful data sheets. At first glance, these are lower mid-range notebooks, which, according to the official product pages, are always equipped with a Core i7, and there is agreement on the display with an FHD panel that is 144 Hz fast.

The distinguishing feature of the three equipment variants in 17 and 15 inch is the graphics card, starting with the smallest ampere gaming GPU for notebooks, the RTX 3050, which is specified with up to 60 watt TGP. The same performance budget can also accommodate the second new Nvidia graphics card in the Sword, the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti. The third option is the GeForce RTX 3060 with a TGP of 85 watts.

The white chassis, which is unusual for a gaming notebook, measures 17 inches 398 × 273 × 25.2 mm (W × D × H) and 15 inches 359 × 259 × 24.9 mm (W × D × H). This corresponds one to one to the dimensions of the Katana notebooks, and the weight specifications are also equal at 2.3 kg (17 “) and 2.1 kg (15”).

GS76 Stealth as a new spearhead in 17 inches

At the other end of the performance spectrum, MSI has the GS76 Stealth up its sleeve, which is supposed to combine maximum performance with a flat case. A Core i9-11900H always forms the basis, which is offered in the most expensive variant with a GeForce RTX 3080 with 16 GB VRAM. There is also a choice of a calibrated, 17.3-inch full HD display with a high refresh rate of 360 Hz or a UHD screen that is also factory-calibrated and operates at 3840 × 2160 pixels at 120 Hz. The storage space in the form of a PCIe SSD can be 1 or 2 TB depending on the model. All components are built into the 396 × 259 × 20.25 mm (W × D × H) aluminum chassis, which is particularly flat for this performance class.

Other special features of the GS76 Stealth include a LAN connection with 2.5 Gbit/s and a Wi-Fi 6E module – both from Killer. Thunderbolt 4, a fully-fledged HDMI 2.1 port, a keyboard from Steelseries with individual key lighting, an SD card reader and an audio system from Dynaudio are also part of the upscale features. The battery has a high capacity of 99.9 Wh, with a comparatively low weight of 2.45 kg. According to MSI, the GS Stealth with Intel Core i7-11800H and GeForce RTX 3070 will cost at least 2,999 euros. 4,399 euros are due for the most expensive model with Core i9 and RTX 3080.

All models are presented publicly in the live stream

According to MSI, the notebooks should be available in stores within 1-2 weeks. The manufacturer will give the official starting shot for the new series today at 1 p.m. in a publicly accessible YouTube livestream.
