Researchers in the US have studied how long-term use of 1,600 different drugs affects the risk of developing Alzheimer's. Data from seven million people were used in the study.

For those who took Viagra, the reduced risk of Alzheimer's was as much as 69 percent.

– It is really interesting research data, but much more is needed research and clinical trials, says Bengt Winblad, professor of geriatrics at Karolinska Institutet, to Swedish Radio.

A study from earlier this year showed that men with coronary heart disease who take Viagra seem to live longer. A previous study has indicated that Viagra has resulted in fewer suicides among men between the ages of 50 and 60 in Sweden.
