Domestic. The picture of how a teenage Ida Karkiainen (S) makes a Hitler salute does not cause any action from the Prime Minister's Committee. Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson (S) has continued “full confidence” in her new Minister of Civil Affairs, she says.

News Today published on Monday night a picture showing how a young Ida Karkiainen makes a so-called Hitler greeting.
“I have no background in the white-power environment and have no memory of having made such a gesture”, Karkiainen writes in a written comment to TT.
Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson (S) says that she spoke to Karkiainen as soon as she became aware of the picture:
– Such gestures are not only deeply storyless but also extremely inappropriate. I have spoken with Ida Karkiainen about this, but I have full confidence that this is not something that reflects her values and she herself has been very clear about that, Andersson says at the press conference.
She states however, that she has continued to have full confidence in her new minister.
Ida Karkiainen herself tells TV4 that she grew up in Haparanda and that at the parties there was partly white power music, but that she herself was not someone supporters of this.
Expressen also accuses Karkiainen of engaging in “wild partying” during the Sabaton Open Air Festival 11 years ago.
– It is tricky to delete remove such, it has been out for ten years and to now suddenly remove? I have always had order and find out for myself. What the guys were doing and how wet parties they had is up to them, but I have had myself in order, says Karkiainen to Expressen.
