With the Galaxy A22 5G, Samsung has presented the company's cheapest 5G smartphone for the German market to date. For 229 euros there is the new cellular standard, Full HD with 90 Hz on 6.6 inches, 64 GB of memory, three cameras and a large battery. Without 5G and with an HD display, the price drops to 209 euros.
So far, the Galaxy A32 5G for 279 euros (RRP) was the cheapest 5G smartphone from Samsung and in this country Interestingly, the new Galaxy A22 5G is even better equipped in certain areas, although it costs 50 euros less.
Full HD or only HD with 90 Hz
The differences quickly become clear when the three smartphones are placed side by side (see table below). The Galaxy A22 5G offers 0.1 inches more than the Galaxy A32 5G, a significantly higher resolution and, at 90 Hz, also a higher refresh rate. The Galaxy A22 with only LTE does not quite keep up in these points, but in return also offers 90 Hz and that on an AMOLED panel, which should do better in terms of contrast.
Faster CPU for slower GPU
With a view to the CPU, the Galaxy A22 5G also gets away with it best, although the GPU has a processing unit no longer applies (2 vs. 3). Each of the three smartphones offers 4 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64 GB of expandable memory as well. And the surcharge of 20 euros for doubling to 128 GB is identical in each case.
The red pencil only opposes the previously better equipment of the Galaxy A22 5G with the camera, where the OIS for the main camera and the fourth lens especially for macro shots are omitted. In view of the 2-megapixel resolution, this step should be bearable, and the rest of the camera setup is almost identical, with only 5 instead of 8 megapixels available for ultra-wide-angle photos. Overall, the missing OIS could be more of a problem. If you want more, you can switch to the Galaxy A22 without 5G, which again corresponds to the Galaxy A32 5G in the points mentioned (plus OIS).
Android 11, jack and fingerprint sensor
Apart from that, all three smartphones have a battery with 5,000 mAh, a fingerprint sensor on the right in the frame and Android 11 including One UI 3.1. Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy A22 5G in the three colors “Gray”, “White” and “Violet” and the Galaxy A22 in “Black”, “White” and “Violet” this month.
