Torbjörn Sahlén is today deputy head of the strategy unit at the Defense Staff.

Before Monday's vote in NATO's military committee there were three candidates, and the Swedish one was voted forward.

The military committee is NATO's highest military body and its duties include advising the North Atlantic Council on military matters.

– It feels really fun. I have been in various positions in Brussels for ten years before my current position and it will be really fun to return to Brussels, says Torbjörn Sahlén in a statement.

The brigadier general takes up the position of “Deputy Director Operations and Planning (O&P) Division” at the International Military Staff within NATO Headquarters. The service will start in January 2025.

– It is important for membership that we enter NATO's structures and important for spreading knowledge, says Torbjörn Sahlén.
