Nothing presents Ear and Ear (a) earbuds with ChatGPT integration

Nothing has announced two new sets of earbuds with built-in ChatGPT applications. The ChatGPT integration is also coming to other Nothing devices, the company announced. The new earphones will be available for purchase from April 22.

The so-called Ear and Ear (a) look quite similar to their predecessors, but have various upgrades. For example, the battery life of the Ear has been improved by 25 percent compared to the Ear (2), allowing you to listen to music non-stop for 8.5 hours. The earphones can be charged a few times in the accompanying box, giving a total battery life of 40.5 hours. The slightly cheaper Ear (a) has a slightly longer battery life: up to 42.5 hours. The Ear and Ear (a) can also be connected to two devices at the same time, so that you can easily switch between, for example, a laptop and a smartphone.

The earphones feature a new Smart ANC algorithm, which checks whether sound is leaking between the earphones and the user's ear canal. Based on this, more or less noise reduction is added. In addition, Adaptive ANC takes ambient noise into account, to which the noise reduction is adjusted. Both earphones can suppress up to 45dB of noise, compared to 40dB with the Ear (2).

The Ear supports LHDC 5.0 and LDAC codecs, which can achieve high audio quality via Bluetooth. Hi-res audio of up to 24bit at 192kHz is achieved via LHDC 5.0. The earphones offer a maximum of 24bit at 96kHz via LDAC. The Ear (a) only supports the LDAC codec. A personal sound profile can also be created in the accompanying app, as well as separate profiles for different genres.

Nothing has also announced that the earphones will be equipped with ChatGPT integration, which will also be rolled out to Nothing OS. Both on the earphones and on a smartphone it will be possible to talk directly to the AI ​​tool, to ask questions and access knowledge.

The Ear and Ear (a) are available from 22 generally available in April, but can be reserved from April 18. The Nothing Ear will cost 149 euros and the Nothing Ear (a) will cost 99 euros. Both models are available in black and white. The Nothing Ear (a) is also available in yellow.
