If you want to put together a charging station for your electric car yourself, you can usually save a lot of money. In that case, you need an EVSE, for example the open source SmartEVSE from manufacturer Stegen. Various firmwares are available for this controller, such as the original one from Stegen, or an alternative version developed by the community with all kinds of extra functionality. Dingo35, known here on Tweakers, contributed to the latter, and he is currently the only active developer. Dingo35 has decided to fork the project and release it under its own management. Version 3.5.0 has been released and the release notes for that release can be found below.

Release v3.5.0

Finally, the stability of Stegen's v3.0.1 and the functionality of serkri-v1.8.0 combined, here is release v3.5.0! (Possibly) breaking changes:

  • The derived mac-id that was used as a prefix for mDNS and MQTT is replaced by the serial number of your SmartEVSE. You can find this number on a sticker on your SmartEVSE or by looking at your mDNS registry. It is (from now on) also the number your AP announces itself with when configuring your Wifi parameters.
  • Because we added some kWh meters, the config of your MainsMeter or EVMeter might be changed to the wrong type; we prevent this for future releases by reserving some slots so we can add more meters without changing their config id.

CHECK YOUR MAINSMETER AND YOUR EVMETER CONFIG after upgrade!

Changes from v3.5.0-RC2:

  • Lcd: goto OFF mode on left button long press also when not charging
  • Fix getting NTP from public server, no longer getting NTP from dhcp
  • Fix powermeasurement for EastronInv
  • Only show Circuit menu option when EVMeter configured, thx to devdems!
  • Fix Mainsmeter timeout
  • parametrize MIN_CURRENT so it can be modified compiletime

For complete changes from v1.8.0 look at release notes from v3.5.0-RC1 and v3.5.0-RC2 !

NOTE: After upgrading, CHECK your MainsMeter and your EVMeter config; we had to change the configuration codes when adding new types of meters.
