The first phones to use Google's most powerful AI model Gemini Ultra will be from OPPO and OnePlus, the manufacturers have announced. Samsung uses Gemini Pro on the Galaxy S24; Google itself has Gemini Nano on the Pixel 8.
The AI functions are in addition to the functions of OPPO and OnePlus' own AndesGPT, both manufacturers say. They have not yet mentioned exact functions, but this would include being able to generate posts for social media.
Google also said that OnePlus and OPPO use Cloud AI services and it is obvious that Gemini Ultra cannot run locally on the phones. The socks of even the most expensive phones are not powerful enough for that. This probably concerns functions that require an internet connection.
Google has Gemini in three versions: Nano, Pro and Ultra. Many AI functions on phones require an internet connection, Tweakers previously wrote. It is not yet known when OPPO and OnePlus will integrate the AI functions. It will still happen this year. The first phones are probably the latest high-end models, such as the OnePlus 12 and OPPO Find X7 Ultra. The latter has not yet been released in the Benelux.
