According to an opinion poll from the think tank ECFR, 67 percent of SD voters state that Jimmie Åkesson is in favor of a “Swexit”.

If you look at other voters, the percentage is 57 percent, reports Dagens Nyheter.< /p>

The Sweden Democrats were previously against Swedish EU membership. Before the 2018 election, SD pushed the issue of a referendum on the EU while congratulating Brexit. In 2019, however, the party turned around and declared that it would instead focus on “reforming the EU from within”. It was about “relating to reality”, explained the party's EU parliamentarian Peter Lundgren at the time.

The only party with any form of voter support that actively advocates leaving the EU is Alternative for Sweden. Its party leader Gustav Kasselstrand writes on social media that it is “a huge understatement for both media and parties” that so many people have the current opinion of SD.
