ASRock launches new Jupiter 600 series mini PCs. Intel's current desktop platform with the LGA 1700 socket for processors of the 12th and 13th Core i generation is used in the flat case. There are two variants with a B660 or H610 chipset to choose from.
Raptor Lake or Alder Lake in a 1 liter case
The Jupiter series is characterized by a compact housing with a volume of only about 1 liter, which measures 179 × 178 × 34 mm (L × W × H) and is therefore very flat. Nevertheless, the full-fledged desktop socket LGA 1700 is used. However, only processors with a maximum TDP of 65 watts that are actively cooled with a fan are supported. This means that Intel's fast K processors with 125 watts are clearly out of the running, but a Core i5-13500 (test) can be used, for example. The CPU is not included in the scope of delivery, which also applies to the RAM and mass storage.
Up to 64 GB of DDR4 RAM can be accommodated in two SO-DIMM slots. SSDs can be accommodated once in 2.5-inch format with SATA and twice in M.2 format with PCIe. One of the M.2 slots works with PCIe 4.0 x4, the other only with PCIe 3.0 x4.
Lots of USB of the slow kind
A total of nine USB ports are distributed on the front and back. Below are two Type-C sockets, but they only work with 5 Gbit/s, which also applies to the USB-A ports. In the H610 model, two ports only offer USB 2.0. Since Thunderbolt is also missing, there is a lack of interfaces for fast external data carriers. Monitors can be connected via DisplayPort or HDMI. Gigabit LAN and Wi-Fi 6E are provided for network connections.
