The new generation of the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé will arrive later this year. The German sports car, closely related to the Mercedes-AMG SL, is one of the most popular sports cars in the world. intercepted again on the road during the classic winter tests that the brand is carrying out in Northern Europe. The new spy photos of this model show limited camouflage, a sign that development is now coming to an end. The sports car appears characterized by the AMG Green Hell Magno color scheme.

Looking at the spy images, one notices the presence of a charging flap on the rear fender. Therefore, it is a forklift equipped with a Plug-in hybrid powertrain. Confirmation also comes from the presence of the classic yellow “High Voltage” sticker. The second generation of the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé will have a cockpit with a 2+2 layout. Indeed, the new spy photos confirm the presence of a (small) second row of seats. The Mercedes-AMG SL, on the other hand, only offers two seats.
Compared to the roadster, the Coupé will be able to count on a more elegant look; aggressive. In particular, there will be some differences especially at the front level with a redesigned grille, new air intakes and headlights with different shapes. And speaking again of the passenger compartment, we will obviously find the latest generation of the MBUX system, with a large vertical touch screen, just like on the Mercedes-AMG SL.
As for the engines, the car featured in the spy photos could adopt the same powertrain as the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance. If this were the case, it would be a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 combined with an electric motor capable of delivering a total of 620 kW (843 HP) with 1,470 Nm of maximum torque. The new sports car, therefore, would be able to have extremely high performance given that the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance reaches 316 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds. However, a version with the non-electrified V8 engine already available shouldn't be missing either. present on the current Mercedes-AMG SL.
At the time of the presentation we will also understand if the German brand intends to offer its new sports car with additional engines as well. All that remains, therefore, is to wait for further details on the debut of the next generation of the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé.
