With the Erazer Beast X40, Medion is launching a new notebook for gamers that serves the highest performance class with the Intel Core i9-13900HX and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090. With a 17″ display with 240 Hz, PCIe 4.0 SSD and a flat Cherry MX keyboard, the equipment is also lavish in other respects. However, this has its price.

The Erazer Beast X40 is practically the counterpart to the desktop flagship Erazer Enforcer X10 and uses the mobile variant Core i9-13900HX and the mobile version of the GeForce RTX 4090 instead of the Core i9-13900K. Both are not as powerful as the desktop versions, but belong to the current top in notebooks. A variant with a new AMD Ryzen CPU is not planned.

The CPU has a total of 24 cores (8P + 16E) and delivers 32 threads. The graphics card is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Latop GPU or the RTX 4080 Laptop GPU in the cheaper version of the Beast X40. The main memory has a capacity of 32 GB (DDR5-4800) and a 2 TB SSD with PCIe 4.0 serves as mass storage.

With dimensions of 383 × 272 × 33 mm and a weight of 2.86 kg, the notebook is not exactly compact, but cooling the powerful components alone requires a lot of space. External water cooling is available as an option. The 17-inch diagonal display works with a high refresh rate of 240 Hz to minimize streaks. The resolution is given as “QHD+” in 16:10 format. This could mean 2,560 × 1,600 pixels, but still needs confirmation.

The notebook is also being advertised loudly by partner Cherry, because a mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX switches in the ultra low profile version is integrated.

The Erazer Beast X40 with RTX 4090 should be available from mid-February for 4,499 euros. At the same time, the cheaper version with RTX 4080 is expected, but Medion has not yet given a price for it.

The optional “Cooling Kit” with external water cooling costs an extra 249 euros and is supposed to provide 10 percent more performance.

Erazer Major X20 with RTX 4070

In addition, with the Erazer Major X20, Medion has presented a slightly smaller and probably cheaper gaming notebook. With a 16-inch display, it measures 357 × 269 × 30 mm and weighs 2.24 kg. With the same processor, Nvidia's GeForce RTX 4070 is installed for laptops. The memory equipment is identical and the flat MX switches are also available.

The price for the Major X20 should be announced with the market launch in March.
