Domestic. Last week, the police arrested three people in Upplands Väsby who were reloading stolen roof boxes from one truck to another. The men are suspected of aggravated robbery.

At the beginning of the year, crime coordinators in the Stockholm North police area noticed a clear increase in the number of stolen roof boxes. Out of a total of 33 stolen roof boxes in the whole country, 30 had been stolen in northern Stockholm.
Spies from the border police saw during Friday how cars drove to and from a place in Upplands Väsby, sometimes with and sometimes without roof boxes on the roof. The police had discovered the very place where the roof boxes were to be reloaded, probably for further transport out of Sweden, and launched an operation.
Together with intervention police from the Stockholm north police area, the border police arrested three people on the spot and seized 20 roof boxes. During the weekend, two of the people were detained. During a search of another vehicle, additional roof boxes were found.
– It is likely that all the stolen roof boxes have been recovered. We have very likely stopped an ongoing crime series that has affected residents of northern Stockholm, says Daniel Almskog, group leader of the border police's group against international criminal networks, on the police's website.
The group will now together with investigators from the police area of Stockholm north try to find the right owner for all the roof boxes.
– It feels good to be able to return them to their owners. Hopefully, roof box thefts will decrease significantly in number after the effort, says Daniel Almskog.
