The project of the Italvolt battery factory in Scarmagno is facing some new problems that could lead the company also to choose a different place for the construction of the factory. Talking about these difficulties is a matter of course. with some Italian newspapers, directly the number one of the company; Lars Carlstrom.

According to what was told to the press, a problem of a technical nature has recently emerged which would affect the electricity grid of the ;area chosen that would not be adequate for the factory to be built.

We have only now realized that in the industrial area there is a lot of traffic. a problem of insufficient electricity supply to power a 45 GWh Gigafactory. We asked Terna, the national grid manager, to invest in solving it: they replied that it would take 4 years. If times are like this, we'll be forced to build the plant elsewhere, we can't wait any longer.

The project to build the factory, however, is going ahead. Lars Carlstrom, in this regard, let it be known that in a few weeks will reveal the name of a large foreign investor. If the implant will not be born in the former Olivetti area of Scarmagno, it will be; made elsewhere, however always in Piedmont.

In a few weeks I will reveal the the name of a large foreign investor who wants to bet on my Gigafactory. There are several hundred million on the table. If the implant will not be born in Scarmagno we will do it elsewhere but always in Piedmont. I already have identified the alternate site and am thinking about another region for a second factory.

Precisely following the discovery of these problems with the electricity grid at the Scarmagno site, Italvolt did not exercise the right of first refusal for the purchase of the area of the former Olivetti hub. The 4 years budgeted by Terna are too long given that the battery factory should be put into operation in 2025.

The company, therefore, perhaps also driven by some ulterior motives (there is talk of high costs for the remediation of the site), he started looking around again in case it was really necessary to find an alternative site. The will to continue in Scarmagno there is; but Lars Carlstrom asks "more; support”. And speaking of financing, the manager let it be known that he has not asked for public contributions even if such projects need everyone's support.

Lars Carlstrom then spoke about the case of Britishvolt, a company he created and which is now owned by the public. in bankruptcy. Case that had raised doubts about the fate of Italvolt. The manager highlighted that he had already left Britishvolt; for several years not sharing the choices of the other partners. In fact, the company had decided to already hire the company. hundreds of employees, an operation, according to Carlstrom, for no reason that made the project unsustainable.

The statements on the "problems" electricity have, of course, alarmed municipalities and trade unions which, showing great perplexity, have asked the company for guarantees on the promised investments. At this point, all that remains is to wait for news; on the Italvolt project to understand how it will go; forward.
