Alpine A110 R & egrave; was designed to be a bolt of lightning between the curves of a track, while being approved for road use. Let's talk about the older version; extreme of the A110 range which & egrave; was designed with the world of motorsport in mind. The future of the A110, as we know, is electric. Meanwhile, Alpine wanted to offer its customers this new model that offers very high performance.

The new Alpine A110 R will be; available for orders starting November 2022 . Prices have not yet been disclosed.

INSPIRED BY FORMULA 1

To improve stability at high speed; and efficiency on the track, the front features the same carbon blade as the A110 S, but with the air inlet shutters integrated into the bumper. The presence of the shutters increases the aerodynamic load by 14 kg. In this model there are also specific side skirts in carbon fiber to extend the flat bottom towards the outside.

Alpine & egrave; managed, with this work, not only to increase the load of her sports car but also to reduce the resistance by 5% (in track setting), allowing her to reach a speed; peak speed of 285 km/h .

WEIGHT REDUCTION

The automaker has not only worked on aerodynamics to make its new A110 R very fast. Indeed, yes & egrave; also focused on weight reduction . Thanks to the use of carbon fiber both outside and inside, the new sports car weighs only 1,082 kg , which is 34 kg less than the A110 S.

The rims of the new A110 R are also made entirely of carbon. They have been designed with a triple objective: to improve the performance of the car thanks to greater lightness, to optimize aerodynamics, but also to cool the brakes. Thanks to this work, the car can rely on a weight/power ratio of 3.6 kg/CV .

ENGINE AND PERFORMANCE

The beating heart of the new Alpine A110 R & egrave; a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine combined with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This unit & agrave; & egrave; capable of delivering 300 hp with 340 Nm of torque . The traction is; rear. The speed maximum, as previously mentioned, reaches 285 km/h, while to go from 0 to 100 km/h it takes 3.9 seconds . The 1,000 meters from standing start are covered in 21.9 seconds.

Three modes are available; customizable driving: Normal, Sport and Track. Depending on the mode chosen, it changes the reactivity; of the accelerator pedal and the engine, the sensitivity power steering, gear change management and sensitivity; of the ESC. The sports car also features a new and exclusive exhaust system that enhances the sound of the engine. The high-performance Brembo braking system of the new A110 R & egrave; composed of bi-material discs, with a diameter of 320 mm at the front and rear. Furthermore, in view of a use on the track of the car, it also has a sophisticated cooling system.

The new Alpine A110 R & egrave; fitted as standard with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 semi-slick tires from 215/40 R18 to the front and 245/40 R18 to the rear. A lot of work & egrave; been done on the trim as well. Ground clearance is has been reduced by 10 mm compared to the A110 S. Thanks to the adjustable shock absorbers, the height can be; be reduced by a further 10 mm. The specific anti-roll bars have a rigidity; increased by 10% at the front and 25% at the rear compared to the A110 S. The suspension springs have also been stiffened by 10%.
