On September 12, Apple released iOS 16 for the iPhones from the iPhone 8. With the release of the iPhone 14, those models already received the first update to iOS 16.0.1. It contained the first bug fixes that were specifically intended for those iPhones. Now Apple has released iOS 16.0.2 which can be downloaded for all compatible iPhones.

The latest iOS update is currently being rolled out. It may therefore take a while before the update is visible to you. Usually Apple rolls out the updates from 19:00 Dutch time. There's no point reporting in the comments that you haven't seen the update yet. See also our article on iOS installation issues.

iOS 16.0.2 available

iOS 16.0.2 is the first update for all iOS 16 devices to fix the first bugs and issues. Over the past few days, several bugs and issues in iOS 16 have surfaced. While users mainly reported issues due to behavior changes or removal, there are also a few bugs that came in the iOS 16 update by accident. Apple already promised an update and here are the three main issues that have now been fixed:

  • An issue with the camera shake in the iPhone 14 Pro (Max)
  • The screen might go black while setting up the iPhone 14
  • The issue with the frequent paste permission message from the clipboard

Releasenotes are the official release notes of iOS 16.0.2, which also have some more bug fixes:

This update provides bug fixes and important security updates for your iPhone, including:

  • The camera could shake and produce blurry photos when taking photos with certain third-party apps on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max
  • The screen may have gone completely black during device setup
  • Copying and pasting between apps may have been prompted more often than expected permission displayed
  • VoiceOver may have been unavailable after reboot
  • Fixed an issue where touch input would not work on certain iPhone X, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 screens after maintenance

Why don't I see the update (yet)?
It can sometimes take a while before you see the update on your device. This has to do with the fact that Apple is rolling out these updates in phases. You can read about this in this article: This is why it takes longer for iOS updates to be installed automatically.
