Seasonic Prime TX and PX 1600: Titanium & Platinum PSU offers two 12VHPWR connectors

Seasonic has presented the two new top models in the Prime TX and Prime PX series with 1,600 watts and two 12VHPWR connectors. With this, the manufacturer is already taking into account the probable development of the power loss of future graphics cards. AMD's RDNA 3 and Nvidia's Ada are said to be thirsty.

Seasonic is expanding its portfolio of high-end power supplies with 80Plus Platinum and Titanium certification to include two new top-of-the-line models with 1,600 watts and is already serving with two 12VHPWR plugs via breakout cable (2×8-pin from the power supply to 1×12VHPWR). today the upcoming graphics card series AMD Radeon RX 7000 and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000, which will face the duel for the GPU throne by the end of the year at the latest. Intel's first dedicated graphics card generation, the Alchemist, is not yet ready for a real three-way battle.

More powerful power supplies for even more power loss

The Prime TX-1600 and the Prime PX-1600 each deliver 25 A (125 W) on the 3.3V and 5V rails and 133.3A for the 12V rail. Both models come with a variety of different connection cables, including two PCIe 5.0 alias 12VHPWR. Both models are not yet based on ATX 3.0.

When will the first ATX 3.0 power supplies come?

The announcement of the first “real” power supplies after ATX 3.0 , which natively support the new connector 12VHPWR and comply with the extended peak load specifications is still pending.
