The NUC 12 (“Serpent Canyon”), which Intel presented to the world public for the first time ever in China, analogous to the sales release of the first custom design Gunnir Arc A380 Photon 6G, can be based on a hybrid Core i7-12700H and a full version of Intel Xe HPG (“Alchemist”) in the form of an Arc A770M.

Alder Lake-H and Full Alchemist

Intel has now published the first product information, images and specifications for the extremely compact Mini-PC NUC 12 (“Serpent Canyon”) via the community platform Baidu Tieba, which is very popular in China and belongs to the portfolio of the Chinese search engine giant Baidu.

The specifications of the Intel NUC 12, the highlight of which is the Arc A770M with 32 Xe cores, 4,096 shader units and 16 GB GDDR6, are as follows:

Intel NUC 12 ( “Serpent Canyon”) – Highlights

  • Intel Core i7-12700H (6P + 8E)
  • 16 to 64 GB DDR4 with 3,200 MT/s
  • Intel Arc A770M with 4,096 ALUs and 16 GB GDDR6
  • 2× Thunderbolt 4 and 6× USB 3.2 Gen 2
  • 1× HDMI 2.1 and 1× DisplayPort 2.0
  • 1× Intel Ethernet with 2.5 Gb/s

What are the barriers between the Core i7-12700H, which has a factory PBP (TDP/PL1) of 45 watts and an MTP (PL2) of 115 watts, and the Intel Arc A770M, which has a cTDP of 120 to 150? will move, the manufacturer has not yet announced. Casual gamers, streamers and content creators are particularly addressed, as the first product photos underline.

The full expansion of the Alchemist ACM-G10 graphics processor with 32 Xe cores and 4,096 shader units as well as 32 RT and 512 matrix cores should be fueled by the 14-core hybrid with 6 P and 8 E cores in both the popular eSports games and casual games as well as in the areas of image, graphics, music and video editing.

The NUC 12 Extreme (test) aka “Dragon Canyon” offers even more performance, which can also pass as a serious gaming PC with an Intel Core i9-12900 and an optional dedicated graphics card.

Sales release and price unknown

On the availability of the NUC 12 (“Serpent Canyon “), possible configurations and targeted prices, Intel has not given any information so far. As with the Intel Arc A380 and custom designs based on it, the latest model in the NUC-12 series will also celebrate its premiere in China.

Together with System Integrators (SI) and partners like Gunnir, who were already on board with the Iris Xe Max in the desktop, Intel places a strong focus on the Chinese retail market with the first Arc generation. This should help Intel to sell the graphics card series better.
