As Microsoft announced in its June update via Microsoft Docs, the cumulative update KB5014697, which has been distributed since June 14th, may be able to disable the portable Wi-Fi hotspot on Windows 7, Disable Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 as well as Windows 10 and Windows 11. Another update is in preparation.
Systems lose connection to the internet
After installing the latest cumulative update, which, for example, raises Windows 11 to Build 22000.739, under certain circumstances it may happen that the system connected via mobile WLAN hotspots can lose the connection to the Internet.
The connection to the Internet cannot be easily reestablished after the WLAN hotspot is connected.
After installing KB5014697, Windows devices might be unable to use the Wi-Fi hotspot feature. When attempting to use the hotspot feature, the host device might lose the connection to the internet after a client device connects.

At the moment, only a workaround can remedy the situation. Affected users must disconnect Network and Internet → Mobile Hotspot from the respective system. If the connection to the WLAN hotspot is re-established, the Internet connection may be interrupted again.
To mitigate the issue and restore internet access on the host device, you can disable the Wi-Fi hotspot feature. We are currently investigating and will provide an update in an upcoming release.
