Inside the Ford plant in Cologne & egrave; Robbie, a collaborative robot that allows employees with mobility problems has been introduced; to continue working. This is a project that began 18 months ago with an experiment. Given the results obtained, the American carmaker has decided to employ Robbie permanently. In the future, the Blue Oval House aims to introduce more of these robots in its other factories to allow all employees to perform different tasks during their assembly line work.
COLLABORATIVE ROBOT 
So, Robbie & egrave; was designed to perform some tasks that would have been difficult or impossible for employees with mobility problems . What exactly does this robot allow to do? Inside Ford's Cologne factory works Dietmar Brauner who thought that his long career had come to an end after some health problems had caused him to have reduced mobility; shoulder and wrist.
Thanks to Robbie, however, he can; keep working. Specifically, Dietmar and the robot work together to secure the covers to the motors. Dietmar inserts two lids into the holders and asks Robbie to take them and press them firmly into place.
This precision task requires perfectly aligning the holes so that Dietmar can use an electric screwdriver to secure the covers, allowing the motor to continue its course along the production line.
Ford adds that this particular robot of his only moves when activated by Dietmar and & egrave; equipped with sensors that detect the presence of hands or fingers in its range of action. With this particular initiative, the German car manufacturer wants to demonstrate that the disabled and people with mobility; reduced can carry out jobs in the manufacturing sector without the need for protective equipment or safety barriers.
