The Aura Strap 2 is a strap for the Apple Watch that comes with its own sensors to measure body data that the Apple Watch itself does not collect. The measured values are transmitted wirelessly to the Apple Watch in the Aura app using Bluetooth 4.2. The bracelet measures muscle and fat percentage as well as body water.

Measurement procedure only manually

However, the measurements via the bracelet do not take place automatically in the background, the wearer has to call up the app on the watch and touch the two sensor surfaces with the heel of the hand on which the Strap 2 is not worn in order to establish a connection through the body . Only then are the values determined, which according to the first test reports from the USA should take around half a minute. Both The Verge and Engadget consider the measured values to be largely reliable and accurate. According to Aura, the accuracy is 95 percent compared to the professional device DEXA-scan.

button cell and solo loop in 4 sizes

The Aura Strap 2 uses a button cell (CR1632) that cannot be recharged. The battery life is said to be around 6 months, depending in particular on the number of scans performed each day. The design of the wristband is based on Apple's Solo Loop, but is said to be narrower to fit more securely on the wrist. Aura includes four different sizes of straps in the package. However, the two sensor surfaces that face the Apple Watch and sit in the middle of the strap are thicker and wider than the strap.
