Original Apple accessories, or rather not?

When choosing an accessory you have a lot of choice. Apple releases cases in a dizzying array of colors, made of silicone rubber and leather. They last a long time, but after a year the silicone ones start to crumble and the leather cases lose their color. Would you have been better off opting for a high-quality premium brand, such as Mujjo, Nomad or Otterbox? Or maybe a cheap case of five euros, which you replace after a few weeks because you like to change color or model? The same goes for Apple Watch bands: there you also have a wide choice of official accessories from Apple, but the range of third party providers is even greater.

What we are especially curious about is whether there is a difference between iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands. With a case, you often opt for a cheap alternative, because a case does not have to do much more than protect against scratches and that also works with a cheap copy. You may be a little more picky with Apple Watch bands because you don't want the band to come off due to poor construction.

When it comes to sustainability and the environment, you can of course buy the best accessory that will last longer. But you can't always be sure about that either: Apple's own covers become ugly over time, while a cover from another brand can still look good.

If you have experiences with accessories from certain brands that still remain beautiful after a long time of use, we would of course also like to hear about it in the comments!
