Silverstone Sugo 16: 13 liters of volume make a gaming cube

Silverstone's Sugo 16 is a miniature case that expands its 13 liter volume in all dimensions. Especially when using a dedicated graphics card, no corner is left unused. On average, however, fewer large components can be installed than the data sheet suggests: Much is either-or.

The numerous air openings on the front and side are central to the design: You are fully occupied. The graphics card moves upwards through a mainboard rotated by 180 degrees, so it can suck in air from the outside through the cover. The specific model must not be longer than 275 and not wider than 147 millimeters, the thickness is limited to around two slots.

This means that a maximum of models with RTX 3080 as Founders Edition (test) and AMD's Radeon RX 6900 XT (test) in the reference design come into question. Cards from board partners of this length use a maximum of upper middle class chips, with RTX 3070 and 3060 Ti this is over. In order to facilitate the installation of the graphics card, the Sugo SG16 has a cutout behind the front so that the expansion card can still be used with the maximum length. An integrated bracket protects such specimens from bending.

A 2.5 “drive and a 120 mm fan, which can be found in the rear, can always be installed. Everything else is either-or. The use of an ATX power supply, for example, prevents the installation of another 120 mm fan behind the front and the use of high CPU coolers, the limit is then 85 millimeters. Silverstone is therefore showing a configuration with an AiO cooler, the radiator of which is mounted in the rear. ATX power supplies with a maximum length of 220 millimeters no longer leave this space based on the product images, so they are only a theoretical option. An 80 mm or 92 mm fan can still be used on the front, or a 3.5 “or 2.5” HDD in the same place instead of a fan.

If an SFX power supply is used, there are further cooling options at the front, and 172 millimeter high CPU coolers can also be used. Here, too, product images reveal more: A narrow model has to be used, and there is not enough space for large twin-tower battleships.

Still in two digits in price

According to Silverstone, the Sugo SG16 is offered in North America at a recommended price of around 90 US dollars in black, the white version costs around 96 US dollars. For the European market, prices are expected to be just below 100 euros. When the case will be available in this country is still unknown.
