In the 40th week of 2021, Windows 11 was clearly the focus of reporting. ComputerBase accompanied the start on October 5th with various reports, which were also well received by the readership. Above all, the benchmarks and problems were of great interest.

Everything worth knowing about the start

ComputerBase has published numerous comprehensive articles, guides, and tests for Windows 11. For whom there will be the free update from Windows 10 to Windows 11 when, on which systems it can be installed and how it can be installed and what influence the hardware (above all the “Trusted Platform Module” (TPM) and the CPU) will have on it as well as the loss of performance due to the optional Virtual-based Security (VBS) and the performance of Windows 11 in games and applications.

  • Download: Microsoft Windows 11 is now available
  • Windows 11 benchmarks: gaming and application performance with Ryzen and Core
  • Windows 11 as an update: requirements, installation, TPM & amp; CPU requirements
  • Windows 11: This is how TPM 2.0 is activated in the BIOS on AMD and Intel PCs
  • Windows 11 & amp; 10: Benchmarks for VBS performance loss incl. HVCI

Two of these articles ended up in the top 5 without any problems, especially the performance differences between Windows 10 and Windows 11 on several systems were in demand in the community. It turned out that Intel's processors get along pretty well with Windows 11, while AMD's not quite as well. And that's exactly where the news of the week hit again.

AMD officially announced that there are still at least two construction sites with their processors of the Ryzen family, which are officially supported by Windows 11. In the worst-case scenario that AMD has determined in eSports games, the performance drop compared to the same Windows 10 system can be 15 percent – these are worlds for hardware nowadays. The first patches are already being tested in Insider Previews; according to the current plan, they are to be added as an update in October. The fault is a far too low performance of the large L3 cache in the CPUs.

In a few weeks, when other things have been tackled, the download, number 2 in the news charts, can ultimately be worthwhile for everyone. At the moment you don't have to do this, anyone who uses a well-functioning Windows 10 system can wait without any problems.

Outlook

In the coming week it will probably be a little quieter, but some NDA content is already in preparation. Of course, it is not allowed to reveal what is coming when, here and now, but the rumor mill had mentioned one or the other date over the past few weeks. And behind the scenes, the first preparations for the big hardware topic are already underway in the 4th quarter.
