With the Radeon RX 6600 XT, AMD presented the smallest RDNA-2 graphics card this week, which can successfully stand out from the RX 5700 XT in Full HD and is even available, albeit now at higher prices.

AMD's new graphics card for Full HD

In the tests, the test of the smallest graphics card with RDNA 2, the AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT, took first place, with the premium model from MSI, the Radeon RX 6600 XT Gaming X, acting as a sample in the test. In terms of efficiency, measured as performance per watt, the new RX 6600 XT leads the way and even in terms of availability on and one day after the market launch, the graphics card is a real exception this year, but in terms of performance, it is primarily sufficient in Full HD to set itself apart from its own RNDA-1 competition in the form of the Radeon RX 5700 XT. In WQHD, the memory interface limits the new graphics card and the lead shrinks. Ray tracing also presents the Radeon RX 6600 XT with too great a challenge.

In second place came the test of the Arlo Pro 4, Reolink Argus 3 Pro and Yale Wi-Fi Outdoor Camera Pro, three weatherproof QHD cameras. The three cameras each approach the same task very differently and, with cloud and local storage on microSD card, already differ in their basic properties. The most expensive model, the Arlo Pro 4, offers the most functions and is the least problematic in the test, but a subscription is necessary for all functions and recordings are only stored in the cloud. The Reolink Argus 3 Pro ultimately offers the best price-performance ratio.

Netflix & apos; VPN block hits numerous regular users

In the news of the past few weeks, the cat-and-mouse game ends up between VPN providers and Netflix. After VPN providers have increasingly hidden their services behind regular IP addresses, Netflix has blocked many of these IP addresses and address spaces in a recent attack against access to Netflix libraries from foreign countries, which also affected numerous regular users, who as a result only could access Netflix Originals. Netflix itself advises those affected to contact the ISP to have a new IP address assigned, thus shifting the problem off. Even if this request has already been partially complied with, the correct course of action would be for Netflix to release the affected IP addresses again.

High-end smartphone Xiaomi Mi Mix 4

In second place came the presentation of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4, the new spearhead of Xiaomi's smartphone portfolio. The Snapdragon 888 Plus serves as the 5G SoC, but the most striking feature is the 6.67-inch “3D Curved AMOLED” display with 2,400 × 1,080 pixels in FHD + with a front camera integrated in the display. The 10-bit panel also offers 120 Hz, HDR10 + and Dolby Vision. The Mi Mix 4 uses either 8 or 12 GB LPDDR5 and 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB UFS 3.1 flash memory.

From August 22nd: Hot Chips 33

At the end of next week, the Hot Chips 33 starts, on which, among other things, news about Intel's Alder Lake CPU architecture, the IBM Z processor with more than 5 GHz and Intel's new Xeon CPUs Sapphire Rapids are on the agenda. AMD will also talk about Zen 3 and RDNA 2, although little news is expected in these areas.
