Xtrfy Project 4: perforated right-handed mouse comes in five colors

Xtrfy also follows the trend of holey mice. The Swedish manufacturer is taking a similar path as before GPCGR, whose Model O (test) at 67 grams also does not do without RGB lighting. The Project 4 also offers different color variants and a protective coating of the inner components.

Perforated lightweight with right-handed ergonomics

The difference to the Model O and most other perforated lightweights lies in the ergonomics: The Project 4 is not symmetrically shaped, but clearly adapted to be operated with the right hand. Although G-Wolves & apos; Sköll has the same property – by almost exactly copying the shape of a Zowie EC2-B – but is currently not found on the European market. The manufacturer does not yet specify the final weight of the mouse, but does give 70 grams as a guideline. This makes the Project 4 slightly heavier than other perforated mice, but still light in absolute terms.

RGB-lighting and five color variants

In addition to the aforementioned RGB lighting, which includes a line on the mouse wheel and a strip connecting the two flanks across the front, the Project 4 is visually characterized by five color variants. The mouse will simply be available in black or white, more conspicuously in light blue or pink or in a “retro color”. Technically, the models do not differ: they all have five additional buttons in common, whereby the two buttons on the underside are reserved for changing the dpi configuration and the USB sampling rate setting.

For the sensor, Xtrfy relies on PixArts PMW-3389 – and thus on a safe bet: The derivative of the popular PMW-3360 has already proven itself to be extremely precise several times. To protect the internal components, which are potentially more susceptible to contamination due to the open chassis, the inner workings of the input device are provided with a dust- and splash-resistant coating; however, the mouse does not have a corresponding IP certification. The Project 4 is also trendy with the cable wrapped in the color of the mouse, which should be particularly light and flexible.

From autumn for 60 euros

Xtrfy roughly dates the market launch of Project 4 to autumn this year. The recommended retail price is 60 euros.

Limited variant shines with a new cable

Xtrfy is expanding the color variants of the M4 RGB (test) with a new Tokyo edition limited to 5,000 copies with a different look, but almost identical specifications. There were only changes to the cable and the surface of the 69 gram input device: The “Xtrfy EZcord Pro”, again wrapped in nylon, should offer less resistance than the previous variants of the M4, although these already have a relatively flexible cable. In addition, the M4 Tokyo has a smooth, glossy surface instead of a matt one.

It remains to be seen whether – and if so, when – the existing M4 models will also be equipped with the new cable or alternative coating. Xtrfy currently only points out that the Tokyo edition is the first M4 mouse to be equipped with a new cable.
