Tonight App Store Connect was temporarily offline and now we know why: Apple had to adjust the developer dashboard because of changes in pricing levels. In a news post, Apple indicates that sometimes prices have to be adjusted, for example because tax rates or currency values change. That is also the case now. Prices will be adjusted in the coming days. Apple uses different levels for this, so-called tiers. In tier 1, the price will go down from €1.09 to €0.99. Below you can see the different tiers 0 to 10 and 51 to 61, to get an idea.

Previously the price level’s €1,09, €2,29, € 3.49, €4.49 and so on. Now it's €0.99, €1.99, €2.99, €3.99 and €4.99 – it's that easy.

The price reduction applies to all countries where the euro is the currency, except Montenegro. It applies to apps and in-app purchases, but not to auto-renewing subscriptions. If you have an ongoing subscription, it may therefore make sense to temporarily cancel, so that you will pay the new (lower) price from now on.

In 2017, Apple increased the prices in the App Store from €0 .99 to 1.09. Then the exchange rates were mentioned as the main reason. Now that prices are going down, euro prices are again moving in line with dollar prices (€0.99 = $0.99).

That the prices in Georgiaë and Tajikistan going up has to do with new VAT rates of 18% in both countries. In addition, when purchasing in Italy, developers will earn a little more because of a reduction in the Digital Services Tax.
