Noctua introduced four new processor coolers from the in-house DX series for Intel Xeon processors: NH-U14S DX-4189, NH-U12S DX-4189, NH-U9 DX-4189 and NH-D9 DX-4189 4 U are compatible with Intel's current Xeon W-3300 (Ice Lake-64L) for workstation and server in the LGA4189. A mounting set has also been released.

Three cooler sizes in different performance classes

The new models are said to be characterized by their similarity to coolers offered in the consumer segment with a particularly low level of noise, so that industrial customers can also build quiet servers and stationary workstations. The NH-U14S DX-4189, NH-U12S DX-4189 and NH-U9 DX-4189 are based on Noctua's NH-U series and come with one NF-A15 or two NF-A12x25 and NF-A9 fans fitted. The NH-D9 DX-4189 4 U, on the other hand, is equipped with two rapidly rotating fans, which Noctua offers under the name NF-A9 HS-PWM. The maximum speed is 2,500 rpm to the highest 2,000 rpm, which the normal NF-A9 PWM manages, a good bit higher.

The NH-D9 DX-4189 4 U has another special feature compared to the other three new releases: While the air flow on the NH-U9 is normal to the longitudinal axis of the LGA4189 base, on the NH-D9 it runs parallel to the longitudinal axis of the base. The NH-U9 is therefore ideal for workstations where the top PCIe slot must not be blocked so that the cooler blows towards the I/O panel.

NH-U/D9 are oriented differently to the base

In contrast, according to the manufacturer, the NH-D9 is recommended for workstations that lead the waste heat upwards out of the housing, as well as for typical server systems, since the airflow direction here corresponds to that within the housing.

The new DX coolers are once again delivered in a package with their own NT-H1 thermal paste, but not as usual in the form of a syringe for self-application. In the delivery state, a layer is evenly distributed over the large base plate, so that installation is more convenient.

All models use the new LGA4189 mounting system for Xeon W-3300, which is supposed to enable faster and more convenient installation thanks to its simpler handling. Thanks to the integration of standard Intel parts such as the anti-tilt mechanism, Torx T30 PEEK nuts and the LGA4189-4 (P4) processor holding frame (CPU carrier frame), the assembly system of the cooler fully complies with Intel guidelines and follows the assembly process familiar to experienced LGA4189 users. A Torx T30 assembly tool is included.

New assembly kit can be used for earlier DX coolers

In addition to the new DX-4189 coolers, Noctua coolers from the DX-3647 and TR4-SP3 series on LGA4189 can also be used with the separately offered NM-i4189 mounting set.

Available now

All new Xeon coolers are now official from Noctuas Amazon shop available. The NH-U14S DX-4189 *, the NH-U9 DX-4189 * and the NH-D9 DX-4189 4U * are offered at a recommended retail price of 109.90 euros, the NH-U12S DX-4189 costs 119 from the manufacturer , 90 euros *. The manufacturer calls for a price of 29.90 euros * for the LGA4189 mounting set NM-i4189. According to Noctua, other sales partners are currently being supplied.
