With the Beoplay EQ, Bang & amp; Olufsen introduced the first in-ear headphones with hybrid active noise cancellation. A total of six microphones should not only dampen the environment adaptively, but also ensure a high level of intelligibility during telephony and a clear transparency mode.

aptX Adaptive , BT 5.2 and IP54

For the connection to mobile devices, the Beoplay EQ use Bluetooth 5.2 and support Microsoft Swift Pair. Multipoint is not offered. In addition to SBC, AAC and aptX Adaptive are supported as audio codecs. The audio drivers have a diameter of 6.8 mm. The impedance is 17 ohms. Bang & amp; Olufsen with 107 dB, the frequency response ranges from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The earphones are protected against the ingress of dust and splashing water in accordance with IP54, so that they can be worn in the rain or during sports without hesitation. Each earbud weighs a comparatively large 8 grams. The Beoplay EQ can also be used individually.

6.5 hours with ANC, little reserve in the charging case

If active noise cancellation is used, the battery life of the Beoplay EQ should be 6.5 hours when SBC or AAC is used. With aptX it is reduced to 5.5 hours. Without ANC, the battery life is extended to up to 7.5 hours. In connection with the charging case, a total of up to 20 hours of music playback is possible – a below-average value because it fully charges the earphones less than two times. The battery in each earphone has a capacity of 85 mAh, while the charging case has a 340 mAh battery. A quick charge function should provide an additional playback time of two hours within 20 minutes. The 77 × 40 × 26 mm aluminum charging case with a rubberized underside can be charged either via USB-C or via wireless charging according to the Qi standard. It weighs 50 grams. A USB-A to USB-C charging cable is included.

Control via touch and app with equalizer

The functions and music playback are controlled via touch surfaces on the earphones. A double tap on the right earbud starts or pauses playback; on the left, this switches through the ANC, transparency and neutral modes. Double tap and hold to adjust the volume. There is no provision for jumping through tracks using the earbuds. It is not yet known whether it is possible to adjust the operation via the app. Using the app, however, the sound can either be adjusted using presets or by manual adjustment using an equalizer.
