Also in the Netherlands and Belgium; a lot of interesting apps are created. In this monthly overview we bring the best Dutch iPhone apps to your attention. It's a great addition to our weekly App Missed section, where you'll find apps from all over the world. Most apps are new, but sometimes you'll also find one that has received a major update.

>Discussed earlier last month on iCulture:

  • On holiday in the EU? How the CoronaCheck app works [FAQ]
  • The European Football Championship 2020 is underway: with these apps you can follow it all
  • Tested: New Philips Hue 4.0 app brings a new design and more

Do you own a nice or interesting app developed? Send us an email via [email protected] or keep us informed via the contact form!

iCulture App of the Month: Philips Hue Fans of the Philips Hue app can download the completely redesigned app since this month. In version 4 of Philips Hue, the developer has adjusted the design, but also added some new functions. Routines are now automations. These now work on an individual user basis. For example, in the past, the app could only determine that the lights should be on when someone comes home. Now you can set certain lights to only turn on when a specific person comes home. This person must have installed the app.

A disadvantage is that the widgets have disappeared. That's not a disaster, because you can still create widgets for the lights in Apple's Assignments app. The Hue app could have created presets for this, but that's not built-in. So there is room for improvement. Want to know what else has been updated? Check out our article, because we were already allowed to test the app.

Notifly

Do you live near Schiphol and do you (sometimes) experience nuisance from low-flying aircraft? Or are you just a fan of plane spotting? Then you can download the latest Schiphol app: Notifly. This creatively chosen name (with the corresponding creative app icon) says it all: the app keeps you informed of planes flying over your house. To do this, the app looks at your current location. Because many flight paths have already been determined, the app knows what may be bothering you.

Notifly also shows which lanes are open and which lanes are likely to be used that day. The app also shows live planes. Tap it to see if it's a helicopter or a jumbo Boeing. The app offers options to indicate how much trouble you are currently experiencing.

Deposit

As of 1 July, there is also a deposit on small PET bottles. But not every bottle has a deposit. That is why Statiegeld Nederland has developed an app that makes it very easy to check this. With the app you scan the barcode of the bottle and the app indicates how much deposit is on it. Handy, especially if you still have to get used to the new policy. Unfortunately, the app does not support other bottle types, such as beer bottles. Hopefully that will come in a later update.

VideoMeister

VideoMeister can stream videos from your Mac to a smart TV, even if you don't have an Apple TV. All popular TV brands are supported. The condition is that your TV and Mac are on the same network. If you already have an Apple TV, the app is useful if you often show videos in other locations, for example for work. VideoMeister has support for many video formats and can play up to 4K, if your television has enough pixels.

BONLU

Do you like luxury and do you like going to the most exclusive places, such as star restaurants, the most beautiful hotels and bars? Then download BONLU. This app will help you find such locations. The team behind BONLU gives tips about (new) hotspots in the app. If you have found something that interests you, you can also view reviews and photos. You can also leave a review yourself.
