Storage products for professional creative professionals, the so-called content creators, will in future be combined by Western Digital under the SanDisk Professional brand, in which the product categories of SanDisk and G-Technology are combined. A whole range of new products was introduced.
While Western Digital disappears other brands it has taken over, such as HGST (hard drives), contrary to expectations, the company continues to stick to the SanDisk brand. Professional products such as memory cards, reading devices, docking solutions and external SSDs for photographers and filmmakers are to be sold under the SanDisk Professional brand from now on. The G-Technology brand is discontinued and its products go into SanDisk Professional.
The brand is making its debut with a range of products that make everyday work easier thanks to their fast transfer rates and modularity should make things easier in this professional area.

SanDiskelt Professional-Reader The new products are described by Western Digital as follows:
- PRO-CINEMA CFexpress VPG400 – A new one , rugged CFexpress card for videographers and movie buffs who require uninterrupted performance of at least 400 MB/s ** for video recording to keep up with the demands of today's video, broadcast and cinema industries. The new map is expected to be available this summer.
- PRO-READER series – Four new PRO-READER products with USB-CTM interface that support SuperSpeed USB 10Gbs. The readers employ the latest popular memory card standards, including CFastTM, CFexpress, RED Mini-Mag® Edition, CF, microSDTM and SDTM card slots. The PRO-READER are expected to be available in stores in summer 2021.
- PRO-DOCK 4 – A new docking station with four slots for reading devices that combines recording and importing with a scalable offload solution. This saves time and money when producing with multiple cameras. The PRO-DOCK, which is expected to be available this summer, enables up to four simultaneous card offloads.
- The portfolio also includes a new 4TB * G-DRIVE ™ ArmorLock ™ Encrypted NVMe ™ SSD as well as the proven range of ultra-rugged portable G-DRIVE ™ drives, the corporate solutions G-RAIDTM, G-RAID SHUTTLE and the desktop solutions, use the Ultrastar® drives. The portable RAID solutions for businesses (now with Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C support) offer a wide range of reliable, high-performance drives with high capacity of 100TB + * for transferring, backing up and archiving business-critical content. The wide range of new drives is expected to be available from the beginning of June 2021.

In a press event Western Digital reveal some details about the new SanDisk Professional brand and the new products. The G-Technology brand will therefore expire, but some products will continue to have the “G” as their logo, such as the G-Drive SSD with up to 1,050 MB/s via USB-C or the G-Raid solutions with up to 144 TB HDD storage (8-bay version). It was assured that with SanDisk Professional hardware of the enterprise class is always used.
Most of the new products should be available in the summer, while the CFexpress memory card VPG400 probably not until autumn.
