After a salvage plan was developed and approved by the Swedish Transport Agency, a tug was able to pull the ship off the ground at 13.15 on Monday.

The Coast Guard's aircraft have not been able to detect anything from the air emissions.

On board the ship, which ran aground on Fårö on Friday night, there was 24,000 liters of fuel oil. No discharge or water penetration occurred in connection with the grounding. No person was injured either.

The wreck has with the front half of the hull stood hard against the stone bottom.

– Pulling a ship that is aground is always a risk factor, says Johan Torstensson, rescue leader at the Coast Guard.

– Fortunately, the ship's own tanks were aft, with free water underneath, which, after all, made the conditions favorable to be able to pull her off and avoid an oil spill. The weather has also been to our advantage and cooperation with everyone involved, says Johan Torstensson.

Since Saturday morning, the Coast Guard has had several units in place, including aircraft, the surveillance vessel KBV 313 and the environmental protection vessel KBV 031, empty the wreckage on the fuel on board or, in the worst case, start fighting a discharge into the sea.

In parallel with having examined the hull with divers, Coast Guard personnel have also investigated the incident. At present, a person is suspected of negligence, or alternatively gross negligence, in maritime traffic.

Pending the result of the shipping company's damage inspection of the hull, the Coast Guard remains at the site.
