Thermaltake is giving another foretaste of the product year 2021 before the digital CES. The flourishing segment of all-in-one water cooling is being supplemented by two model series, which operate under the names Toughliquid Ultra and Toughliquid ARGB Sync. Sales should start in the first quarter of 2021.

A modified heat exchanger offers more fins

Thermaltake recently presented the Toughair family of CPU air coolers before the manufacturer unveiled the first details of the next generation of liquid coolers for processors with Toughliquid Ultra and Toughliquid ARGB Sync before the exhibition. First and foremost, both innovations come up with a radiator that has been revised compared to the TH and Floe AiOs, which should offer more cooling surface than before thanks to a modified structure and an optimized distance between the fins.

Depending on the version, Toughliquid Ultra and Toughliquid ARGB Sync are offered as usual with either a 240, 280 or 360 mm large heat exchanger. Depending on the model, two or three fans ensure the exchange of air.

Toughliquid Ultra with faster “turbo” fans

While the all-in-one coolers of the probably cheaper Toughliquid ARGB Sync series, the slower rotating fans of the type Toughfan 12 (240 and 360 AiO) or Toughfan 14 (280 AiO) are factory-installed, which are at the top work at 2,000 rpm, the Toughfan 12 Turbo performance fans are used in the Toughliquid Ultra model series, which is designed for higher performance. These can be done at an increased maximum speed of 2,500 instead of 2,000 rpm. build up a high static pressure.

Ultra with LC display, ARGB Sync with LEDs in the pump cover

Toughliquid Ultra and ARGB Sync also differ in terms of the pump unit. According to current knowledge, technically equivalent, the Ultra-AiO has a 2.1-inch LC display in the pump cover. This can display status information such as temperature or voltage of the CPU in real time, but it can also display graphics and images individually created via software. In contrast, the more cost-effective Toughliquid ARGB Sync has a cover with six addressable light-emitting diodes above the pump unit with a copper base.

In addition, the alignment can now be freely selected, because the pump cover can be continuously adjusted at your own discretion. Instead of an external control unit for the lighting, Thermaltake has relocated the manual control of luminosity and effects to the pump unit for the Toughliquid ARGB Sync. An automatic comparison with existing RGB components is still possible using the also revised in-house software “TT RGB Plus 2.0”.

Display increases starting price from 120 to 210 USD

Thermaltake plans to launch both CPU coolers in the first quarter. For the time being, Toughliquid Ultra and ARGB Sync are expected to reach stores in North America and Canada within an unspecified period. The starting price should be around 120 US dollars for the cheapest ARGB sync model. Variants with 280 mm and 360 mm heat exchangers are expected to go on sale for 130 and 150 US dollars. The Ultra family, on the other hand, starts at more expensive around 210 US dollars for the offshoot with a 240 mm radiator, the 360 offshoot should cost around 240 US dollars.

Update 05/11/2021 10:21 AM

Not quite in line with the planned schedule, Thermaltake yesterday brought the complete water cooler of the Toughliquid ARGB Sync series into its range and is now offering the three different offshoots in its own US shop for sale. It is currently not known when German retailers will be able to offer the all-in-one cooler and at what prices.
