BBM, Viber and Facebook Messenger are some of the apps that battery’s on smartphones the most leegslurpen. That says a network company Alcatel-Lucent on the basis of an analysis of network traffic on mobile networks around the world.

WhatsApp, Twitter and the normal app of Facebook have much less impact on the battery life of smartphones, claims Alcatel-Lucent, said in a Wednesday report published. The company relies on its own figures about how many apps on signalling and do a network connection set up with the mast of a mobile network to check if there are notifications. Alcatel-Lucent has this data, because the equipment delivers and manages for many providers in North America and Europe.

Signalling is a major factor in the depletion of batteries of smartphones, so those apps at the network level the most influence on the battery life, so says the network administrator. Other factors affecting the battery life impact are left out, such as the use of, for example, gps apps, and the power that is needed for the use of the display by the app.

BlackBerry Messenger scores the highest on the list of accuslurpende apps, followed by Yahoo Messenger, Viber and Facebook Messenger. WhatsApp and Skype end up a lot lower on that list. Alcatel-Lucent also concluded that Google Maps is a bigger drain on the battery life than Apple Maps; the service of Apple to consume more data, but Google has fourteen signalling events required per MB of data, Apple only nine. Anyway, it makes Android a lot more to signalling than iOS, which makes Android phones more faster will be empty, so claims to be the grid.

In any case, Facebook has the report taken seriously, says Alcatel-Lucent. As a result of the findings of an earlier version of this report, paste Facebook app, and then the total signalling traffic in mobile networks decreased by around 5 percent.
