On the internet are the details of three new Haswell E processors for high-end systems appeared. It comes to two processors with six cores and a model with eight cores, which in the second half of this year in combination with the X99 chipset should appear.
The cheapest of the three is the Core i7-5820K, which is expected to have a suggested retail price of less than $ 400 and for that money six cores and a whopping 15MB of L3 cache. The amount of pci-e lanes, however, would be limited, says Techpowerup on the basis of the specifications that Coolaler has published. The most powerful model, the Core i7-5960X, with a price of probably around $ 1000, combines a slightly lower clock speed than the other two with eight cores and 20MB L3 cache.
Haswell-E should be in the second half of this year, Ivy Bridge-E will follow as a powerful platform for desktop systems. All chips will be unlocked, tdp of 140W and ddr4 support. The chipset of Haswell-E is concerned X99 and the socket will receive a different pin layout compared to the current LGA2011 platform.
