The Nokia Lumia 930 has no Glimpse screen, while all other Lumia’s that are for sale in the Netherlands, this. That is due to the type of screen that Nokia uses in the device. This type of screen supports is not a ‘display memory’, what is needed for the function.

Glimpse is the function in which a Lumia the time and notifications display on the screen without the user a button to press. The function works on both amoleds and lcd’s, and as an update, the service is also available on cheaper Lumia like the Lumia 620.

The Lumia 930 will get the function, however, not by a limitation of the screen, says Nokia at WPCentral. The screen has no ‘display memory’. Presumably this memory for a kind of variant of panel self refresh. This still image from the memory is displayed so that this is not continuously refreshed. This would be for big accubesparingen sure. The amoled screen of the Lumia 930, probably from Samsung, has that feature. Other amoled screens that Nokia use, such as in the Lumia 925 and Lumia 1020, to have that memory as well, which makes Glimpse that indeed works.

The switch of screen for the Lumia 930 is not a good option: there are a few manufacturers of amoled screens, which have the capacity to meet the demand of Nokia to meet. With an lcd screen, had the Finnish manufacturer had the pleasure to meet.
