The GameSpy Master servers on may 31st off. The servers, especially lobbies, matchmaking and leaderboards will care for and support older games. A part of those games migrating to other services, and other games will be online no longer work.

GameSpy reports the news on their own website. A number of well-known titles that still make use of GameSpys servers are the Arma games, Red Dead Redemption, Borderlands, Stalker: Call of Pripyat, Halo on the pc, and Saints Row 2. Newer games use the GameSpy servers, since the parent company Glu Mobile since January of 2013, no new games on the GameSpy services has been added.

It is unclear yet which games move on to other internetinfrastructuren and what games will soon be faced with an online component that no longer works. Seems inevitable that will last for some games: for older titles, but only a few be played, it is not financially attractive to have work to put in the migration to a different online service. With this announcement, will be the last piece of the gamingdienst of the web disappear. GameSpy has been in existence since the late ’90s.
