Cheaper smartphones with 4g appear soon

Cheaper smartphones with support for 4g appear soon. That promises to Qualcomm in a note on its quarterly results. Currently, 4g is still reserved to the more expensive smartphones, partly because of the cost of the processor.

Qualcomm has the processor that the cheaper smartphones with 4g makes it possible not yet announced, but the company says in an explanatory note to the quarterly results that the soc is already in the hands of smartphonemakers and that devices with this soc will soon appear.

This is most likely a new version of its Snapdragon 200, a processor which last for months by HTC, Lenovo and Samsung, it is used in cheaper devices. The Snapdragon 200 is the only soc series of Qualcomm without the 4g: the Snapdragon 400, 600 and 800 all have been 4g-support.

The new soc, it should be possible to create 4g to apply in cheaper devices, so that they in subscriptions cheap can be offered. At this time, is the cheapest device with 4g, the Galaxy Ace 3 from Samsung, which is slightly more than 200 euro cost and it runs on a Snapdragon 400-soc.

When the phones with the new soc come out, Qualcomm is not exactly said, but that happens, probably later this year. New processors for high-end smartphone will probably be in January: the chipmaker is already showing years consumer electronics show CES its new products.
