The variant of the Samsung Galaxy S4 that sold in the Netherlands has a longer battery life than the octacore version in other countries in the shops. That claims at least GSMArena, that the two versions has been tested.

In the Netherlands, is a variant of the Galaxy S4 on sale with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600-soc, with four Krait-processor cores at up to 1.9 GHz. In some other countries is a variant released with Exynos 5 Octa soc from Samsung itself. That soc is the first in a phone that makes use of ARM’s big.LITTLE concept, where four of the powerful but energy-gulping Cortex A15 processor cores will be assisted by four more fuel-efficient, but less powerful Cortex A7 cores.

In all accutesten of GSM Arena scores the Exynos version of the S4 is less than the versions with the Snapdragon 600. Especially in the field of call keeps the Exynos variant, it is less for long. It should be stated that little is known about the conditions of the test of GSMArena. Phones can on some networks, the bugs exhibit, allowing the battery to drain faster. As it turned out the reviewexemplaar of Tweakers a bug on the Vodafone network to display, while the battery life on KPN’s network, however, duly appeared. In the meantime, Samsung has released an update that supposedly included a fix. It is not possible to rule out that GSMArena without knowing it on the same bug in the Exynos version is encountered: the Exynos version is not tested on networks where the Snapdragon version is released.

Samsung has presumably because of production problems with the Exynos 5 Octa processor decided to offer two versions of its new flagship model. Samsung released earlier U.s. models of its Galaxy S smartphones with Qualcomm processors, but the various models in the Netherlands came out on the market were up to the S4 with Samsung’s own processors.
